UFC 265 Saturday
UFC 265 takes place Saturday night in Houston, Texas and features a battle for the interim Heavyweight Title as Derrick Lewis takes on Cyril Gane. With Francis Ngannou waiting in the wings, the HW ‘interim’ title bout will setup a big showdown by the end of the year.
Unfortunately, the UFC lost the Amanda Nunes-Juliana Pena title fight which would have been an interesting matchup to watch.
This PPV seems like a summer PPV which is a lull between July’s (usual) big event and this year September’s International Fight Week. While the Houston crowd will be pumped, the Olympics will play a detractor for some casual viewers. Moreover, the lack of big undercard names (sorry Jose Aldo) means a PPV card likely in the 200K-250K buy range. Still, a nice profit-making night for the UFC.
As far as who will win on Saturday, its hard not to think that Lewis takes out Gane in his hometown crowd. But, having a Gane-Ngannou title fight is too good to pass up as it could be all that is needed to give French MMA a push to credibility.

Court denies PI
On Friday, an Orange County Superior Court heard arguments in the Audie Attar-Manny Pacquiao. Although no official word has come down as of this writing, a tentative ruling favored denying Attar’s PI.
A Preliminary Injunction would have stopped August 21st fight between Pacquiao and Errol Spence, Jr. Attar claims that Pacquiao breached his contract with Attar’s Paradigm Sports in which he was to have fought Mikey Garcia. Furthermore, he was advanced $2 million as part of the deal. Tom Brown’s TGB Promotions has intervened in the lawsuit and responded to the PI motion and opposes the request citing the fact that ancillary businesses would be monetarily injured due to the injunction. Moreover, he claims that he had a pre-existing contractual agreement with Pacquiao.
Plaintiff’s PI is here. The opposition is here including Tom Brown’s Declaration which includes the agreements he had with Pacquiao.
